Hey there, If you're new around here, guess what? I'm not only a herbalist but a 40-something skateboarder, too! Thrills, spills, and everything in between. The other day, I grabbed my skateboard and headed out for a little "me" time. It was a slightly frustrating session due to the massive number of leaves I had to clear- but I persevered anyway. Skateboarding is my secret weapon for balancing work and mom life and is a key part of my daily wellness plan. (Planning ahead means I make time for it!) And yes, I learned to skate as an older woman! It's a bit unconventional, but the movement keeps me grounded. Every push of the board, every glide, reminds me to flow with life and not against it, to lean into my experiences rather than trying to avoid or numb them. This is not a call to take up skateboarding (although if you're keen, I'm always looking for skating partners!). Instead, it is a call for you to connect with one of the key pillars in my Daily Wellness Guide, movement as medicine. Beyond just feeling good, movement is crucial in supporting the lymphatic system, a network of tissues and organs that helps rid the body of toxins and waste. Unlike the circulatory system, which has the heart to pump blood, the lymphatic system relies on you moving your body to function. When we move—whether skating, walking, or stretching—we support the lymphatic system. This supports immune health by transporting white blood cells and removing toxins (as well as a host of other protective benefits) This immune support is vital as we transition into autumn. It helps us stay resilient and healthy as the weather cools and we become more prone to seasonal challenges. Would you like to explore this concept further? I've shared it before, but honestly, it's so good I like to share it as often as possible! It includes practical ways to incorporate movement into your daily life, no matter how busy things get! Hit ‘reply’ and tell me: What movement brings you back to balance? Warmest, Wendy |
