“Why did you get sick, Mum? You are a herbalist.” This was a real question my eldest son asked me as 2024 became 2025, and I was in bed with an unpleasant respiratory infection. If I’m honest, even I internalised this belief at times. Why did I get sick if I had all these wonderful herbs at my disposal? Why do I sometimes feel anxious? Why do I get occasional hormonal acne (at the age of 42 - I dislike that spots and wrinkles occupy the same real estate on my face)? The fact is that I am human—not a superhero, with herbs as my invincible shield against any illness, magically transforming misery into bliss. Yes, herbs are fantastic; they can help shorten the duration and severity of infections. They can soothe and relax, but are only one piece of the pie and not a magic bullet. I am a little fed up with the current rhetoric that puts certain herbs or supplements up on pedestals as the ‘cure-all’. Leaving customers feeling disheartened when the ‘cure-all’ doesn't cure them. Working with herbs is just one piece of the pie, and there is no one herb for everyone. I am more determined than ever to share the truth about herbalism: its beauty, limits, and where herbs can make a difference. So, if you're fed up with quick-fix illusions and you're ready to explore the world of plants with curiosity, where there are no guarantees—except perhaps a little more joy in your daily life. Then welcome and hello, 2025. If you’d love to learn more about working with Plant Spirit Herbalism, head here and download the first two chapters of my new book (I can't believe it's out this year!) You have to scroll to the bottom of the page to sign up for the chapters- it’s worth the effort! Once you’ve downloaded and read the first few chapters, hit ‘reply’ and let me know your thoughts! Warmest, Wendy Ps. Here are the different ways you can connect and work with me in the next few months 👇 |
