If you have a uterus, then this email is for you. My work as a herbalist and natural nutritionist primarily involves supporting folks with hormonal transitions- especially perimenopause and menopause. Lately, as part of my ongoing professional development, I've been deep-diving into the science (yup, I love combining the spirit and the science when it comes to health) Do you think that our wombs are only useful for creating children? That once our reproductive years are over, we don't really have much need for them? Wrong! I was fascinated to learn about emerging research on the uterus and ovaries after menopause. Our wombs and ovaries don’t shut down. They keep talking to our brains, helping with memory (They also continue to play a role in hormone production after we cease menstruating!) Yes, even after menopause, they may play an essential role in communicating with the brain in memory formation, consolidation, and retrieval! It’s mind-blowing. Our bodies are beautiful creations! What else could we be missing? Whenever I encounter research that questions current paradigms, I get so excited, like a new part of the map has been unlocked! If this email has piqued your interest, perhaps you'd love to read the research paper, or you have some cool info you'd love to share with me. Then hit the 'reply' button, and let's start a conversation. Warmest, Wendy |
